Marketing without the ick, by Bec Griffiths

help me with my marketing

A workshop for creatives who’d rather be making art

If the word marketing makes your shoulders tense, you’re not alone.

Maybe you know you should be doing it – posting, emailing, promoting – but every time you sit down to start, something in you recoils. It feels awkward. Loud. A bit… gross. So instead, you go back to the work. The art. The part you actually love.

And somehow, “I’ll deal with marketing later” keeps turning into never.

If any of that feels familiar, this one’s for you.

On Friday Feb 6th at 7pm, we’re hosting Marketing Without the Ick, a relaxed, honest conversation about how artists can share their work and make a living from it, without selling their soul or becoming a slave to the algorithm.

This isn’t a hype session.
It’s not about hacks, funnels, or “10 ways to grow your following overnight.”

It’s about finding a way to talk about what you do that feels like you

Led by artist and educator Bec Griffiths, this workshop is a window into a different way of thinking about marketing, one that doesn’t ask you to contort your creative voice to fit trends, platforms, or someone else’s idea of success.

Bec’s full course, The Art of Marketing, is built for photographers and creatives who want to make meaningful work, share it thoughtfully, and still pay the bills. The philosophy is simple but powerful:
the things that make you an artist your sensitivity, your curiosity, your point of view, are the same things that make you a great marketer.

In the full five-week course, students walk away with clarity around their brand, confidence in how they communicate, and a way forward that isn’t haunted by endless marketing “shoulds.” This workshop is a taste of that thinking; a place to ask questions, untangle assumptions, and realise that there are other paths.
