STOP! don't open the back of your camera yet!
Discover how to get film out of 35mm Co camera with Loop Art & Photo Space, Olinda.
So you’ve shot your roll, and now you’re ready to see those magical film photos. But hang on—before you get too excited and open the back of your camera…
STOP.
Opening the 35mm Co camera before rewinding the film will expose it to light and likely destroy your photos.
Here’s how to do it properly:
Step 1: Rewind the film
Most 35mm Co cameras (and similar reusable ones) have a little crank on top—that’s your rewind knob.
Look for a small button on the bottom of the camera. Press and hold it. This unlocks the rewind mechanism.
Flip out the rewind crank and turn it clockwise. You’ll feel some resistance at first—that’s normal.
Keep winding until it suddenly gets way easier. You might even hear or feel a little pop as the film detaches from the take-up spool.
Keep going a bit more to make sure the entire roll is safely inside the canister.
Step 2: Remove the canister
Once you’re sure it’s rewound:
Open the back of the camera.
The film canister should be safely rolled up. No loose film should be hanging out.
Pull it out and you’re done. You can now send it to us for developing.
Step 3: Bring it in to get developed
With your film in hand, it’s time to get it developed. Here at Loop, we offer a full service film developing service, & we can even teach you to develop it yourself!

What if I already opened the back before rewinding?
If you only opened it for a second or two, don’t panic. The first few frames might be toast, but the rest of the roll could be salvageable—especially if you closed it quickly and didn’t pull the film out.
Just rewind it now and send it in. We’ll let you know how much we can recover.
Still unsure?
Bring the whole camera in—we’ll rewind it for you. No judgment, promise. Everyone starts somewhere.
